Rediscover Your Inner Artist With Emily Lex’s Watercolour Stationery

Emily Lex Paint Book

Emily Lex, having been artsy all her life, never called herself an artist.

Sure, she made crafts, doodled at the kitchen table, and painted with her kids. But simply enjoying being creative, she thought, wasn’t enough to warrant an artist’s title.

“That felt too fancy for the things I made,” Emily recalled. The ‘artist’ designation often carries certain barriers that seem almost impossible to break through. So for the longest time, she put her dream on the back burner.

An Artist’s Spiritual Journey

One day a few years ago, things changed when Emily found herself on the closet floor, seeking an answer from the universe.

“I have a history of saying yes to things that aren’t really mine to do,” she admitted. “I was ready to just be fully me.” The guidance came when she was praying. “I heard these three simple words in my spirit: Be an artist.”

And so she did. The next day, Emily picked up a brush and painted a tiny illustration. She did the same thing the next day, and the next. Soon, days turned into weeks, months, and eventually, a year.

Now, Emily owns a studio under her name, where she creates aesthetic watercolour goods and handpainted gifts.

“Watercolour has taught me that creativity doesn’t have to be perfect or impressive to be meaningful,” she said.

A Community Of Inner Artists

Emily’s Instagram account has grown to over 270K followers, with a community of art lovers who want to rekindle the love for their inner creatives.

“Being an artist isn’t just about making art,” Emily said, “It’s about how you see, and what you look for. It’s about reflecting that beauty in what you create. Sometimes to share with others, and sometimes (most of the time), simply for the joy of creating.”

That carefree spirit comes through in her arts: A rustic wheelbarrow filled with spring flowers. A baby lamb that looks as if it just stepped right out of Le Petit Prince. A little girl twirling her dress.

It’s a world where the little magic of life is relived through the lens of childhood dreams. Simple and innocent.
